Yoplait Skyr’s Dublin café takeover shows how brands can build relevance by joining a real routine, not just renting attention.

The latest Yoplait Skyr campaign is a useful reminder that an experience does not need to be huge to feel meaningful. Across Dublin, the brand partnered with four run clubs and local cafés, connecting product sampling to the part of the routine that happens after the run: breakfast, coffee and conversation. Participants received complimentary Skyr pots with fruit and granola, while club captains wore co-branded merchandise and cafés carried the idea through cups, displays, posters and chalk art.[1]
The campaign ran through September and October, supported by user-generated content and out-of-home placements across roadside, rail, gym and transport locations.[1] The smart move was not simply putting a logo near runners. Yoplait joined a behavior that already had structure, trust and social energy.
People are still open to brands showing up in their lives, but the invitation has to make sense. Run clubs work because they are more than a media audience. They have recurring schedules, recognizable leaders, local routes, shared language and built-in rituals. A brand can participate without pretending to own the community.
That distinction matters for founders and marketing leads planning campaigns and experiences. The opportunity is not to manufacture a temporary crowd. It is to find a community that already gathers around a relevant need, then contribute something useful, generous or memorable.
The same principle appears in current brand work across categories. Columbia Sportswear built a 40-foot off-grid bunker into a social, print and billboard campaign, turning product durability into a story people could enter.[2] The campaign worked because the prize, tone and creative premise all came from the brand’s outdoor point of view.

The first mistake is treating community as a list of creators or attendees. A real community has its own priorities. If a brand arrives with a rigid script, it will look like a sponsor standing outside the circle.
The second mistake is making the branded moment bigger than the human moment. More signage, more steps and more content do not automatically create more connection. In Yoplait’s case, the value was clear: finish the route, share breakfast and keep moving through the city.
The third mistake is measuring only reach. Impressions matter, but they do not explain whether people participated, returned, shared the experience or associated the brand with a useful part of their routine. Campaign design should define those signals before production begins.

We would start with the ritual, not the headline. For a food or wellness brand, that could mean identifying a Houston community whose weekly behavior already aligns with the product, then building a small, repeatable experience around what happens before or after the main activity.
Our reference point would be God Coffee: a case study in giving a hospitality brand a clearer world, stronger touchpoints and a more intentional way to meet its audience. The lesson is not to copy the surface. It is to make every detail, from the setting to the language to the content, reinforce why the brand belongs there.
That is the work inside our Campaigns & Experiences practice. We connect the audience insight, partner strategy, physical moment, content plan and measurement so the activation feels like one idea instead of five disconnected deliverables.
For founders and marketing leads, the next step is a focused brief: who already gathers, what they need, what the brand can genuinely contribute and what should happen after the event. Explore more work in our portfolio, then contact us when the moment is ready to become a plan.
